My twin-sister Sharon and I were born on the 24th of January 1988 in Munich. My father Herbert Ruckdäschel would put Sharon and me on his skateboard before we could even walk, “generating a feeling for balance” as he liked to recall it.

But it was my mother’s decision of moving to Marbella (Spain) at the change of the millennium that introduced me to the sport of kiteboarding. Living only an hour away from Europe’s “wind capital” Tarifa and being surrounded by kiteboarding legends such as Alvaro Onieva and Jaime Herraiz, it didn’t take me long to grow an incredible passion towards the sport and finally turn it into a career that would bring me to the most exotic beaches of the world.
