Born in Munich/Germany, Silvester and his twin-sister Sharon were introduced to skateboarding before they could even walk by their father Herbert Ruckdäschel, who would later take them on surfing and snowboarding trips in his caravan.
With his father’s nomadic boardsport lifestyle as well as his mother’s migration to Malaga/Spain, an hour away from Europe’s “wind capital” Tarifa, Silvester discovers a passion for Kiteboarding and becomes one of the best in the world, winning titles and accolades, and pushing the boundaries with new maneuvers and equipment.
After living out of a board bag as a professional kiteboarder for 5 years, Silvester settles in Cape Town to study advertising, and a year later, at 23, he follows his lifelong dream of moving to the US.
As faith would have it, shortly after setting foot in LA, Silvester is discovered by model agent David Todd who books him on his first major campaign for Moncler, shot by Bruce Weber.
Silvester has since had the fortune of being photographed by some of the biggest fashion photographers in the world such as Steven Klein, Mert & Marcus and Dennis Leopold and he’s been featured in campaigns for Dsquared2, Ralph Lauren and Gap, appeared in GQ, V Men and other renowned fashion magazines and is the current face of Dsquared2 Fragrance “Wild”.
