Not going to Venezuela

The other day I went to the airport and wanted to check in for my flight to Venezuela, funny thing was, I booked my flight for exactly one month later, so would have had to cancel this one and get a new one, but decided not to do so because I hurt my back a couple of weeks before, and only kited 3 days during 3 weeks, 2 days at the PKRA in France & 1 day sliders in La Manga and even resting so much I hadn’t recovered from the injury, so next day I went to see the doctor, had to go through an X-Ray where no damage was visible, the doctor diagnosed “inflamacion de ligamentos” (spanish…) but he seemed to have no idea at all, so what I’ll do is rest a bit more and if it doesn’t get better, check with another doctor.

Roadtripping

The whole trip from Malaga to Leucate and back was absolutely crazy, first we build a slider in La Manga on one day and slide it the next day, then we had really good skateboarding sessions in Barcelona but meanwhile, some dickheads broke into our car and stole Alvaros clothing bag, Alex his Macbook and my passport and Macbook Pro, then we spend a thousand hours at the police, Alvaro and Alex kited in front of Barcelonas skyline, meanwhile I was organizing a new passport, then we had to repair the broken window from the robbery, so in the end we almost came to late for the competition in France. In France, we hit a nail with a wheel and once we changed it, a Lady suddenly drove backwards at a cross section and crashed into my sisters van that we were traveling in. And those were only some of the highlights! In the end we’re all happy to have done the trip but also happy that its over! Ill be home for some days now and the mess continues on the 25th with a flight to Venezuela, where I’ll participate at the next PKRA Event. 7th ::: PKRA France

After numerous problems during our roadtrip like a broken battery and a robbery, Alvaro, Alex and I arrived at the competition area way to late and almost too late to register. The french Tramontana blew strong and gusty from day 1 on so first I had to go through the trials, where I only didn’t miss my heat thanks to Pile (the machine) Brueckmann, who saved me by pumping up my kite. 4 of 5 people went through each heat, and 1 guy didn’t even show up in my heat, so I went through to the Single Eliminations, where I had to go against Cesar Portas in the first heat. I rode my Unions, did really well for the conditions but lost against the quantity (2 more tricks) of Cesar. Next day wasn’t windy enough for competition, so there was enough time to recover from Saturdays night. The wind came back stronger and gustier on Monday for the double elimination. I won my first heat against Ali Barrett from UK on bindings but with a really close decision. The conditions got worse and worse so after this heat I went for my straps board(hadn’t ridden on straps for the last 3 months) and shorter lines which turned out to be a good decision, because like this I won another 3 heats, against Paris, Phillip Brueckmann and Mikael Bloomvall and then lost against Seb Garat way overpowered on my 7m. I ended up 7th like Alvaro, Alex got 6th. So it was a good start into the new year of competitions. Thanks to Thomas Hasle for taking some pics of me.

Shooting a Movie

Since my arrival in Spain a month ago, I’ve been spending a lot of time together with Alvaro Onieva and Alex Pastor in and around Tarifa, riding on bindings, straps and even the wakeskate and filming a lot for our movie ‘Choice’. The filming has been a lot of fun and success so far, we’re all putting a lot of effort into the project and I can happily say, that this movie will not only be about tricks. As we’re all gonna compete at the PKRA in France next week, we’ll start a mini road trip in my sisters camper after-tomorrow, pure hippie style, hehe. We’ll try to visit some nice spots on the way to France, like La Manga for kiteboarding and Barcelona for skateboarding. Once the PKRA in Leucate is over, we’ll continue filming in Venezuela. The release date should be shortly after the PKRA there. Stay tuned, probably there’s gonna be a Teaser online soon. Thats all for now, Im out!

I arrived in Malaga 3 days ago, my flight was with Malaysia Airlines Perth-Kuala Lumpur-London-Malaga, they charged me 900 $ for my boardbag and we arrived late in London, so I missed my flight to Malaga and had to wait the whole day at the airport for the next one, so I guess that was the last time with that Airline for me…
The day after my arrival the wind was on so I kited at Heavens beach, which practically is my home spot, met the old buddies there and had a fun session, although it was dam choppy for ma bindings.
I gonn stay here for now and train for the PKRA in France where I wanna compete on bindings, lets see how that goes!

metropolis, future music, seabreeze

Finally we had some acceptable Sea-breeze sessions, but the wind continued dropping and most days it only kicked in late in the afternoon and barely strong enough for a 12m. Pile left some days ago, I bought a sooner return ticket, I will fly back home on Wednesday. The parties got better though. Yesterday there was some crazy music in Metropolis, the major club in Fremantle and tomorrow Im going to Future Music with Victor, a huge festival with various stages, Chemical brothers, Who Made Who and many more DJ’s will be pinching the vinyls there!

Freemantle, Shanghai and Woodies

A couple of days ago we moved to Toby Bromwichs house in Freemantle, which is closer to Woodman Point and way cheaper. I’ve been shooting some pics with him for Core Magazine, wasn’t too good for pictures because of the light, but we still got to kite every day. The pics I put online are either shot by one of us or Marion Landon (thanks a lot). Yesterday the wind direction turned to South East so the wind was kind of gusty again, but the water was really flat at Woodman Point. I was out there with Victor Borsuk who also lives with us and Dan Anderson and this day I did good with my bindings, landed a couple of KGB to blinds and even two Pete Rose to wrapped’s, but its old stuff… Riding bindings is good fun, but its sort of limiting, so I guess I’ll use Straps for the next couple of days and once I do some new tricks on them I’ll try to do it with Bindings. check the gallery for new pics.

The wind is getting better again and we could kite at Woodman Point, Pelican Point and Point Walter. Woodman was the best, really similar to Isla Coche with flat water, offshore winds and not to shallow. Its hot here, no need for a wetsuit and the forecast looks good!
